The Great Theater of the Cibao was inaugurated in August 1995 and its design was in charge of the architect Teófilo Carbonell, the building is surrounded by gardens and is located in front of the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros.
The Great Theater of the Cibao is the architectural twin of the Eduardo Brito National Theater in Santo Domingo and was built by the architect Teófilo Carbonell, who was inspired by several international theaters.
It has three large rooms: the main Restoration room, the Divina Gómez room and the Eduardo Brito room, where outstanding shows by artists and companies, both national and international, are presented. It also has the Bar Moisés Zouain, which is a beautiful area decorated in its own style by the architect Carbonell, with carpets and bright blue furniture, and with beautiful lamps in brightly colored stained glass windows, a combined detail in internal brushstrokes and external, which has earned it the qualification of “The Blue Bar”. of its presentations, the Theater holds talks, conferences and workshops on art and culture.
There are also important statues of historical figures of cultural life, such as: Fray Luis De León, the great Spanish writer Lope de Vega, and in the center of the theater the sculptures of Calderón de la Barca and Sor Juana Inés de la Cross.
