Pan De Agua knoll Ecological Hostel

The Pan De Agua knoll Ecological Hostel is a paradisiacal place with all the amenities to restructure your soul and live an experience without waste and with so many beautiful things that you must experience, located in the Province of Monte Plata.

Due to its rivers and mountains and the greenery of its land, Monte Plata is one of the main destinations for ecological tourism. In it you can connect with nature and also have adrenaline. They call it the Emerald province for a reason. 10 minutes from the Bayaguana municipality, there is a new place from which you can live this ecological experience, in harmony with nature. It is the Loma Pan de Azúcar Ecological Hotel (HELPA), the first ecological hostel in the country with self-sufficiency in photovoltaic energy.

With only six months open to the public, the hotel has had a great acceptance among Dominicans, having occupancy of 80 and 90 percent on weekends. The name honors its proximity to the Loma Pan de Azúcar mountain.

“Our goal is that visitors have the opportunity to enjoy, learn and share nature responsibly. It emerged as a family retirement home for Leonardo Hernández. Then the friends began to ask for it and rent it, then the idea of building the hotel arose”, affirmed Emilio Echevarría, administrator of the project.

In the decoration they have a rustic and modern combination, integrated with nature and with recyclable materials. Since we entered the place, we enjoyed the beautiful landscape, and the wooden cabins. The purpose is to be in harmony with nature, and to be 100% ecological. So far we have achieved it with energy independence, with about 72 solar panels.

We also have a rainwater collection system to water the plants. The hotel has nine cabins (5 with capacity for 4 people, and 4 for 6 people); the “Big House” or main villa with 5 individual rooms, living room, dining room, balconies, and fully furnished kitchen. They also have four single rooms for one and two people.

They fit from 60 to 70 people staying, plus those who want to camp. The cabins have been built with local labor and wood, from the municipality. In these, you can swing in one of its colorful hammocks or ecological swings.

The hotel also has a pool, billiards, gift shop, restaurant, bars, BBQ and natural spa. In the restaurant you can enjoy Creole food, cooked with organic products grown on their farm, as well as their famous house drink: Limonada Pan de Azúcar.

They currently have fourteen hundred bushes of organic lemons. Guests can have a pick up and drop off experience. Soon they will have about nine more cabins, for two people each, in the project they have to build villas near the river.

At Pan De Agua knoll Ecological Hostel, the Helpa staff strives to provide entertainment to its guests, with music in its bars and around the pool, karaoke nights and bonfires. They also have board games, movies, a climbing wall, hiking, the Lemon Route, horses, bicycles and a go kart route. They have packages for weddings, events, and parties.
